At first glance these little guys are nothing special. They look exactly like the cheapo sponges that my granny used to get from Walmart. Here is the difference though, they are 100% biodegradable and they are totally machine washable. Thus making them pretty cool little sponges. last year I made a pledge to help reduce our waste. I started with plastic bags, while we aren’t completely devoid of them we do a good job of using reuseable products. This year my focus is on paper products. I do not want to be that mommy that uses the equivalent of a whole forest a week. Smile So reusable is almost always good.  Sometime reusable sponges get old and musty. My Granny used to bleach hers, but that is just trading one toxin for another. SKOY actually recommends microwaving or dishwashing your sponges. They will shrink a bit, but they won’t stink.

 

They also absorb A LOT. 15X their weight in fact. Which is a lot when you are talking about water. Also they are equivalent to 15 rolls of paper towels.  I really like how the company gives you ideas on how to continue to use their products well beyond their life.

After an independent composting test, SKOY cloth broke down completely within 5 weeks.
